Practical Tips
- Subway closes around midnight. If you’re out late, use KakaoTaxi (Korean Uber) to get back.
- Tipping is NOT expected in Korea. Don’t tip at restaurants – it can actually be considered rude.
- Most places accept cards, even street food vendors. But carry some cash (around 50,000 KRW) just in case.
- Download Papago (translation app by Naver) for communicating at local restaurants and shops.
- Convenience stores (CU, GS25, 7-Eleven) are everywhere and sell surprisingly good meals for 3,000-5,000 KRW.
